State of science in Azerbaijan in 2024
Azerbaijan in 2024 has made significant progress in various fields of science. Science has become a national priority for the coming years. State structures introduce new programs and offer solutions to build the reputation of Azerbaijani scientists in the global scientific community and modernize the education system.
Financing of the scientific sphere in 2024 will increase 1.5 times compared to 2020 and will amount to AZN 228.8 million.
Within the framework of the "Digital Skills" project introduced by the Ministry of Science and Education in 2021, IT classes appeared in schools. The program is designed to train the maximum number of future high-tech specialists.
Under the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Education, formed in 2023, all scientific and higher education institutions of Azerbaijan will be able to get free access to the global scientometric database Web of Science.
In the ranking of countries prepared by the US National Science Foundation, Azerbaijan ranked 86th among 195 countries by the number of articles published in reputable international journals in 2023. More than 2,500 scientific papers were placed in publications with high impact factor in 2023.
Nine leading scientific journals of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) are indexed in the most influential Web of Science and Scopus databases.
