If you have ever published scientific articles, you have probably come across such an important element of scientific work as DOI. This unique permanent identifier is intended to identify objects of information activity, in particular scientific articles, books, graphic elements, data and other scientific content. Digital Object Identifier serves for unambiguous identification of intellectual property objects on the Internet.
DOI solves several important problems facing the scientific community:
- copyright protection
- unique identification of a scientific document, which eliminates the possibility of losing a scientific publication, confusion with a similar work or its duplication.
- availability of scientific content: thanks to the integration of the identifier with the main databases - Scopus and Web of Science - it is easy to find scientific materials that have been assigned a DOI.
In today's video we will take a closer look at what DOI is, why it is needed and what are the ways to get it.
Pavel Kolomiets, an expert of the Scientific Publications Training and Research Center, will answer these questions in detail and reveal all the subtleties of the practical application of DOI.
