Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have agreed to establish a joint scientific fund, which will be aimed at conducting research and strengthening scientific co-operation between the countries. This was announced by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel and Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev during the discussion of prospects for deepening cooperation in the scientific and educational spheres.

During the meeting, representatives of the two countries emphasised the progressive development of their cooperation, which is based on agreements and memorandums. Particular attention was paid to the activation of student exchange between the countries, the implementation of state and university grants, as well as scholarship programmes.
The Kazakh ambassador noted the number of Kazakh students in Azerbaijan is growing rapidly, thus contributing to the strengthening of bilateral ties. In response, the Azerbaijani Minister of Science and Education emphasised the high level of Kazakhstan's universities, particularly Nazarbayev University, and expressed hope for an increase in the number of students from Azerbaijan in Kazakhstan's universities with proper awareness.
As a result of the meeting, representatives of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan also developed a concept of further joint activities aimed at the development of science of the two countries. It is about three main steps, in particular:
- holding a Kazakh-Azerbaijani educational exhibition in Baku, the purpose of which is to increase the recognisability of Kazakh universities among Azerbaijani youth.
- organising faculty exchanges between the universities of the two countries to pass on experience to each other
- one of the key achievements was the establishment of a joint scientific fund, which will contribute to the further development of scientific research in both countries.
