The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) has summarised the results of the activities of scientific institutions of the Humanities Department for 2024. During this time, scientists have achieved significant results in various directions.
Scientific institutions of the Humanitarian Sciences Department (HSD) of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences have achieved impressive results in 2024. During this period, 9 international and 12 republican scientific conferences, as well as about 100 different events were held, which testifies to the high activity of scientific organisations of the HSD.
It was reported at the general meeting of scientific research organisations of HSD that 34 key problems covered by 71 topics and 438 works were addressed within the framework of the ongoing research. 314 papers in 11 critical areas accounted for a significant portion of the scientific achievements.
As a result, the institutions published:
- 136 books (including 7 abroad);
- 58 monographs (8 of which were published abroad);
- 1784 articles (431 articles were published abroad);
- 253 theses (154 were published abroad).
In addition, Azerbaijani scientists have demonstrated significant success in publication activity. In 2024, 20 articles of scientific staff were published in the international scientific databases Web of Science and Scopus, among which 18 were published by the Institute of Literature, 1 by the Institute of Manuscripts and 1 by the Institute of Architecture and Art.
This year, 68 PhDs and 20 MDs were trained in the scientific institutions of the HSD. Also, 36 doctoral dissertations and 11 doctoral theses were successfully defended.
These achievements testify to the high level of scientific work and significant contribution to the development of humanities research. The activities of the scientific institutions of the UGC were highly appreciated by the members of the branch and received unanimous approval at the final meeting.
